Preface: These instructions are addressed to experienced system managers
of a OpenVMS system.

INSTALLATION
===========================================================================
1.) Load the distribution CDROM into a CD drive, mount it and copy the
contents of [DVDARCHIVE] of the distribution CD on a disk.
Edit DISK:["DVDARCHIVE"]DVDARCHIVE.TEMPLATE and
DISK:["DVDARCHIVE"]DVDRESTORE.TEMPLATE
and rename the files to DVDARCHIVE.COM and DVDRESTORE.COM.
The lines, that have to be change are at the beginning of
the template files.
2.) Copy the two binaries readdisk_{AXP/I64}.EXE and writedisk_{AXP/I64}.EXE
to a disk and rename them to readdisk.exe and writedisk.exe.
3.) Optionally install cdrecord and the lddriver. Both can be found
on the CDROM, too. These programs are unsupported by the author.
===========================================================================
USAGE:
===========================================================================
Now you can test it out:
@DISK:[path]DVDARCHIVE.com source-disk burner-device archive-filename -
{optional: Number_of_blocks_per_DVD/CD}
The command procedure prompts you, if your intervention is needed.
If all data of the source disk are stored without failure, the restauration
of the disk goes as follows:
@DISK:[path]dvdrestore.com DVD/CDROM-device target-device archive_file -
{optional: Number_of_blocks_per_DVD/CD}
===========================================================================
REMARKS:
===========================================================================
a) Dvdrestore checks the total size of the target-device, which must be
identical to the total size of the source-disk.
b) If the optional parameter Number_of_blocks_per_DVD/CD is used, you must
enter this number for dvdrestore, too.
c) The dvdrestore process checks the part number on the CD/DVD. If a wrong
medium is inserted, the program doesn't go on and ejects the wrong medium.
The archive_file parameter + "_" + "Partnumber" controls this mechanism.
So do use unique strings like disklabel_date_creator_systempassword.
Do not take the last sentence too literally ...
